The Health and Safety Event: the After
Upon visiting the Health and Safety event in Birmingham, we eventually (much to our disappointment) had to pack up and head home.
Here are a few of the things we learnt from the experience.
Upcoming health and safety rules
Health and safety is an intricate topic and it’s fundamental that it’s explained in a way that is accurate and clear.
The health and safety landscape needs to be regularly updated, if not, employees and employers may not be supported or held accountable for any situations or transgressions.
For example, mental health in the workplace was considered to be a part of employment law until the Equality Act 2010. As we grow and change as a society, so do our needs.
The Health and Safety event was a brilliant time to approach new concepts in the health and safety landscape.
With these new ideas, we’re also able to update our own programmes and products to ensure that we’re still the leaders in employee health and support.
New contacts
It isn’t often that people in the health and safety community are able to come together and exist in one space.
However, it’s important that we do.
By being altogether, we’re able to discuss and connect on a topic that we’re all passionate about.
At OH One, we focus on the health and safety of people at work. However, there are others within the health and safety community who focus on the medical aspect, the legality of it or something else entirely.
Health and safety is a broad topic, and it’s important that every avenue is covered; and that we are all able to cohesively listen to one another’s ideas and beliefs.
Greater awareness
Like anything else, OH One is a brand. We only make a difference if people know that we exist.
One of the fundamental things that the Health and Safety event offered is exposure to others in the industry.
You never know who you can help and sometimes all you need is brand exposure.
If we can spread the word about OH One, then we can help more and more people – and that’s really all we want to do.
