How Wellbeing and Physio Work Together to Improve the Workplace
Sometimes the way to support your staff is to understand how their health impacts their ability to work. If you’ve recently been in a physical accident or are suffering from your mental health, it’s always reassuring to know that your workplace is prepared to take the steps to support you.
Wellbeing
According to HSE, in 2020, an estimated 828,000 workers were impacted by work-related stress, depression, or anxiety. And as the pandemic continues to affect the UK workforce, it’s no surprise that these mental health conditions are impacting staff more than ever before.
However, this isn’t sustainable.
Living with a mental health issue can cause a lack of sleep, low moods, and a struggle to perform tasks that an employee may have found simple.
This is why we have specialist wellbeing nurses to help support your staff through any problem they may struggle with. Our nurses are trained in lifestyle, resilience, and mental health, and part of our intervention is to work with the employee to explore their emotional needs, offer advice to manage stressors at work, and give recommendations of support and resilience.
Physio
When an employee's physical mobility is affected, it can transform the way they approach work.
It’s important that employees are met with adequate support through their injury as, depending on their job role, this will limit them in different ways.
By offering an external Occupational Physiotherapy service by means of reparation, you’re expressing to your employee that you care about their physical state. If an employee is struggling to perform their daily tasks, it can lead to a negative self-image, a feeling of dejection, and persistent aches and pains in the body.
We offer telephone and video consultations that focus on employees musculoskeletal symptoms. From this, our physiotherapists produce a report and a personal treatment plan that offers advice for the suffering employee, therapeutic exercises that should reduce their injury, and self-care techniques that they can apply to their situation.
Wellbeing and physio go together
If your employee’s wellbeing and physicality suffer, then this can wreak havoc on the emotions and physical state of your employee.
To get the best out of your employee, you want to ensure that their physical and emotional states aren’t at risk. It’s only when your employees are truly happy that they can dedicate themselves wholly to other endeavours – work being one of those things.
